Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the resort, Horst Schulze.

Capella Hotels and Resorts (CHR), an establishment which owns international five-star luxury hotel chains in St. Lucia, Singapore, Pedregal, Cabo San Lucas and Mexico, has said it is here to stay.

The company, which assumed management of Discovery at Marigot Bay last year, held a media luncheon at the resort on Wednesday afternoon. The aim was to sensitise the public on the future plans of the resort.

Since the acquisition, Capella Marigot Bay, as it is now called, has been undergoing renovations which are scheduled to be completed by mid-June 2014. Notwithstanding this, the hotel said it has already started to introduce its “award-winning service practices” at the property.

Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the resort, Horst Schulze, told the media that the focus of the resort will be on the ultra-market.

He took the opportunity to speak of some of the services hotel guests are expected to receive at the soon-to-be-commissioned resort.

According to him, guests are expected to benefit from flexible check-in and check-out times, along with the “best” amenities, to include complimentary wireless, 24-hour access to fitness centre, daily newspaper delivery, dining, watersports and more.

Schulze stated that excellence in service is the aim at Capella and that guests will have access to a personal assistant while on vacation.

“We cater to the ultra-market, not that there is anything wrong with the other market… Capella Marigot Bay, like all the other Capella resorts, promises to be a first in its class to Saint Lucia,” he promised.

Asked why Saint Lucia was chosen, given the current economic downturn and why a focus on high-end clients, Schulze said that studies on the market had revealed that there is an increasing demand in sector.

“People will pay for a good service, and this is what Capella is offering,” Schulze said.

The CEO gave a guarantee that guests will have a memorable stay at the resort which he believes will incite them to return. He informed that the resort has a grading system from 1 to 10, and expects cooperation from all employees in order to deliver a quality product.

“The hotel is run in such a way the employees are not there just to be of service to guests, they work as a team,” the CEO and chairman said.

Another aim of the resort, according to officials, is to draw some of the world’s top luxury yachts to a nearby marina.

Capella Marigot Bay Resort will continue its “Jazz on the Bay” event, which was implemented by the Discovery Hotel two years ago.
