PRESS RELEASE - The Embassy of Mexico informs that from the 27th to the 30th of April 2015 a mojigangas (giant puppets) and carnival masks made of papiermaché workshop took place at the Exhibition Hall at its office which was conducted by the artist and professor of arts and creativity Ana Isabel Martín del Campo.
The Objective of the workshop was to teach students, Art and Craft teachers of secondary schools and Saint Lucian Artisans the elaboration of mojigangas (giant puppets) and carnival masks made of papiermaché which forms part of the cultural expression of carnival celebration in Mexico.
6 art teachers and 20 students from Gros Islet, Leon Hess Comprehensive, George Charles and Marigot Secondary schools and Dennery Primary School Participated.
The masks made by the participants will be exhibited during the Latin American Cinema Festival which will be held in Castries later this year and the Mojigangas will be showcased for the first time during the 2015 Saint Lucia Carnival Parade.
