Women in Action (WIA), the Women’s Arm of the United Workers Party (UWP) will observe International Women’s Day on March 8, 2014, with a brunch at Coconut Bay in Vieux Fort from 10 a.m.
International Women’s Day is a day when women are recognised for their achievements without regard for differences, whether national, ethnic, linguistic, cultural, economic or political.
It is an occasion for reflecting on past struggles and accomplishments, but more importantly, for looking ahead to the untapped potential and opportunities that await future generations of women.
As part of our celebrations under the theme “Inspiring Change” we will be dressed in respective colors and pay tribute to:
i. Survivors of Breast Cancer (pink)
ii. Victims of Domestic Violence (orange/purple)
iii. Female Stalwarts of the UWP (yellow)
iv. Women in Leadership (blue)
v. Spirit of Excellence in Women (white)
WIA extends best wishes to all women and advocates for the end of all forms of discrimination against women, and would like to see an increase in support for women’s full and equal participation in the development of Saint Lucia.
