The Office of the Prime Minister wishes to advise the public that Harold Dalsan, parliamentary representative for Soufriere/Fond St. Jacques and Minister for Social Transformation, Local Government and Community Empowerment, has successfully undergone surgery in Cuba to address persistent neck pains he has suffered over the past few months.
As was announced last month, specialised investigations revealed that the pain was as a result of the presence of a prolapsed C5/6 disc.
On the recommendation of consultant orthopedic surgeons, Dalsan agreed to a surgical intervention to correct this problem.
Dalsan has been advised by his surgeons that the initial recovery period after his surgery will be 14 days. During this time, Dalsan will remain at a hospital in Cuba. While the government of Cuba has extended courtesies to Dalsan, he will be meeting the expenses associated with his surgery.
The government of Saint Lucia thanks all who continue to offer prayers and best wishes to Dalsan and his family, as they go through this period of recovery.
Prime Minister, Dr. Kenny D. Anthony, spoke with Harold Dalsan on Wednesday, a day after his surgery. According to the prime minister, “Minister Dalsan was in good spirits and was confident that he will have an uneventful recovery. Minister Dalsan is cheerful and as usual, is never one to miss a good joke. He was full of praise for his Cuban doctors and the quality of care extended to him by Cuban medical personnel.”
Senator Dr. Kentry Jn. Pierre continues to act as Minister for Social Transformation, Local Government and Community Empowerment in the absence of Hon. Harold Dalsan.
