In its continuing drive to provide help and support to victims of the Christmas Eve trough, LIME has come to the aid of four more schools that were affected by the storm system.

The company has partnered with the Ministry of Education and cable TV channel partner, LORAC Communications Inc – providers of CalaWeather channel 103, the largest weather channel in the Caribbean and the only truly Caribbean dedicated weather channel – to provide much-needed school supplies to the George Charles Secondary, Vieux Fort Comprehensive Campuses A and B and Vieux Fort Technical School in the first instance.

All of these institutions were affected by flooding that led to the loss of valuable school and office supplies.

LIME and LORAC teamed up to donate over $10,000 worth of materials to these schools. The donations include whiteboards, notebooks, pens, pencils, rulers, erasers, sharpeners, staple machines, ring binders, post-it notes, markers, board erasers, desk sharpeners, file folders, construction paper and scissors. The presentations were made on Friday, March 7.

“We have had a long and very positive association with the children of Saint Lucia, through our partnership with LIME,” explained Tony Marchand of LORAC. “We have worked with LIME to sponsor Junior Carnival, and we are pleased to be able to collaborate to assist the affected schools. We hope it goes a long way in helping them cope with the tremendous challenges they face as they press ahead with their efforts.”

“As a company, we accept that we have a responsibility to assist wherever we can, especially the children who suffered loss and dislocation, by providing them with practical support that is vital for their continued education,” said Geraldine Pitt, CEO of LIME Southern Cluster.

“Our continuing support for the relief effort is indicative of LIME’s unflagging commitment to giving back to the communities and contributing to the enrichment of the quality of life of all Caribbean people,” she added.

LIME has been contributing steadfastly to the relief effort since the passage of the storm. The company arranged for the distribution of several hundred cases of bottled water to residents in Bexon, Canaries, Anse La Raye and Soufriere in the wake of the floods.

Over the past month, the company has been leveraging relationships with its LIME TV partners to get further help for the communities, schools, families and individuals most badly affected.
