PRESS RELEASE – On the 28th of January the Youth Power Group (YPG) had their first Hawaiian Festival and put together hundreds of youths.
The initiative of this event was to make the youths aware that there is joy without drugs.
For Pastor Leandro, responsible for the YPG in St Lucia, this event will have its continuity more often: “Our greatest desire is to keep the young people far from crime and drugs, we have seen many youths going astray and we are not happy with that. We believe it can change and the youths can come together as one”
The event started at 10 am and ended at 4:30pm and the youths left the place joyful “… Was nice to be here today, we have many time friends calling us to smoke weed or drink, but today I was invited for something better than that. We prayed, we danced, we sing and play games and I like that.” said one of the youth that was in the Hawaiian Festival.
The youths had lunch at the beach, played football, volleyball, sack race, talent show where the youths could show their talent such as singing and dancing and a lot of fun
The YPG is a non profitable organization with the aim of helping young people and transform their life. We’re not like other ‘feel good’ groups out there. We want you to feel good but, more importantly, we want you to do well for yourself.
What can I say except that, being part of the Youth Power Group, is an excellent way to start life on the right path.
You may have had a terrible past or committed the most horrific mistakes yet, we believe, there’s a way to make things right. That is why, at the YPG, every young person can get involved and fit in, regardless of their background or where they live. In addition, Youth Pastors mentors are always available for advice or questions, throughout the week.
